January 2010 was characterized by fairly widespread and moderate to heavy rainfall in Namibia. Widespread heavier falls occurred in the northeastern, northern and central parts of the country. Out of the 37 stations used in the monitoring, only three (Walvis Bay, Ariamsvlei and Karasburg) reported no rainfall at all throughout the month. See Table 1. In particular, 24 and 5 of the stations recorded more than 100 mm and 200 mm rainfall respectively for the month as a whole. However, no daily rainfall historical extremes have been exceeded at the stations examined. See Tables 2.
